Dear Corpus Christi Parishioners,
I have always had an affinity for the patron of the parish or school where I have been assigned to serve. Incorporating their name into my personal prayers and the prayers of the people has helped me to realize that a particular member of The Communion of Saints is interceding on our behalf.
What a great patron Corpus Christi is for a parish! Translated from Latin, Corpus Christi is The Body of Christ, and so is the parish. For a parish is, indeed, a group within the Church – The Body of Christi – coming together to worship The Body of Christ – Our Lord, present in The Eucharist. I can’t think of a better patron.
Just as any parish consist of people coming together to share their gifts, talents, and abilities for the spiritual well being of its’ members, so does ours. However, as our community continues to grow in the diverse ethnic, racial and cultural backgrounds of our parishioners, so do the gifts they bring to offer. We are truly a microcosm of what our Catholic – universal – Church is.
For those of you who have called Corpus Christi home for any portion of our Forty years of Faith in Christ, may that Faith continue to be nourished.
For those of you who are new to our parish community – WELCOME! We look forward to your sharing with us the gifts you bring to help us build-up Corpus Christi, The Body of Christ.
Fr. Ryan
